As part of an innovative and progressive organisation with new opportunities and expanding services, you will be responsible for providing clinical anaesthesia, quality control and daily personnel management based at Flinders Medical Centre. The annual anaesthetic workload includes all surgical sub-specialties, including neonatal, cardiac, thoracic and liver transplantation. In this key role, you will provide clinical and immediate managerial support to the Head of Department, and deliver a high quality Anaesthesia service to all areas within SALHN. You will participate in the ongoing planning of quality assurance programs within the Anaesthesia service, as well as participate in the teaching and training of undergraduates and postgraduates and other staff as appropriate. To be considered, you must hold a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. With appropriate Specialist Qualifications, you will be registered with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration, or hold another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award. Significant clinical experience and competence in the practice of anaesthesia is required, and you will bring to the table the ability to communicate at the highest level with a wide range of people including patients, their families, colleagues and other professional staff, both verbally and in writing. With proven proficiency and clinical excellence in this specialty, you will have a successful track record teaching at all levels of medical education.
