You will be responsible for Microbial Molecular Epidemiology, Public Health and Molecular Testing Innovation and the provision of a cost effective, efficient and customer focused diagnostic service. You will initiate and manage high level programs and major investigations in line with the operational objectives of the Microbiology and Infectious Disease Directorate. Providing leadership and managing very complex projects involving a number of personnel within MID, you will liaise with other directorates within SA Pathology, universities or interstate pathology laboratories. You will also be responsible for human resource management within the unit, including the maintenance of staff records, staff training and development, staff interviews, staff performance and WHS. Microbiology Molecular Techniques are rapidly changing, and SA Pathology provides an opportunity to be involved in the future direction of the techniques adopted for diagnostic testing. You will hold a degree in Science or Applied Science or equivalent, and have extensive postgraduate experience in Microbiology Molecular sequencing techniques and applying new technology within a diagnostic laboratory. Demonstrating competence in the management and motivation of staff, you will be confident in setting objective performance standards and developing control mechanisms to ensure progress. Prior experience in providing detailed cost analysis of projects will also hold you in good stead for this role.
