About the role

The Health, Safety & Wellbeing Officer is responsible for supporting the administration and monitoring of RSPCA Victoria's WHS Management system, that improves the safety and wellbeing of our people and builds a positive safety culture across the organisation. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager in the administration, monitoring and enhancement of the WH&S Management System.
  • Provide support to managers, employees and volunteers on hazard identification, incident reporting, investigations, and implementation and monitoring of corrective actions.
  • Support the management of workers compensation claims and non-work related injuries/illnesses to achieve safe and sustainable return to work outcomes.
  • Maintain MyOSH (online workplace health and safety system), ensuring that the system and reporting functionality is utilised effectively to drive manager accountability and positive safety outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and review of HS&W policies and procedures to ensure compliance with HS&W legislation and improve work practices.
  • Partner with the Learning & Development team to ensure the implementation of the WHS training needs analysis and delivery of health, safety and wellbeing related training.
  • Support serious incident investigations, including action development, implementation and monitoring.
  • Support the implementation and management of mental health and wellbeing related initiatives to improve the safety and wellbeing of our people.
  • Support the communication and engagement of employees and volunteers on health, safety and wellbeing related matters, including providing administration for the WHS Consultative Committee and Mental Health & Wellbeing Committee.
  • Provide administrative support associated with health, safety and wellbeing, including records management and report production.

What we are looking for from you 

  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred, however not essential.
  • Strong administration & orgnisational skills. 
  • High level literacy, numeracy and problem-solving skills, including intermediate computer skills (including use of Microsoft Office Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety related legislation and practices.
  • Passionate about health, safety and wellbeing and making the workplace safer to work and volunteer.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging work environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a team environment.

Highly regarded 

  • Return to Work Certification or relevant workplace experience;
  • Certificate IV in Health and Safety.

Recruitment Requirements 

  • Valid and current driver’s license.
  • Willingness to undergo a National Police Check.
