Remuneration: $110,000 to $140,000 (plus 11% superannuation)
Employment Type: Full-time

St John Ambulance (Vic) has been saving lives and delivering care and compassion throughout Victoria for 140 years. Our volunteers and our staff are the lifeblood of everything we do. We are currently recruiting for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager to ensure that our people are adapting a safety mindset across all aspects of their working and volunteering life.

The Opportunity

The People and Culture team are a welcoming, friendly and helpful team of HR professionals. The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager will provide advice, support and guidance to managers, employees and volunteers on a variety of people related policies, procedures and practices for all areas of St John Ambulance Victoria (SJAV). You will build relationships within the People & Culture team and with the broader SJAC community enabling you to assist and support strategic and business plan objectives. You will champion and role model the values and behavioral expectations that support a safe, diverse and inclusive environment for everyone associated with SJAV.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take the lead for all health, safety & wellbeing related activity, providing expertise and insight to the business
  • Be responsible for managing the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health, safety and wellbeing strategies, policies and initiatives
  • Analyse data from a range of sources to identify trends and recommend areas for improvement.
  • Coach, mentor and guide SJAV leaders to achieve the required outcomes in line with strategic plans

Your experience

  • You will be a have a background in Occupational Health and Safety,
  • Degree qualification in Workplace Health and Safety or significant experience in a similar role; preferably in a not-for-profit environment/for purpose organisation
  • Expert knowledge of contemporary safety issues and best practice, and the statutory and regulatory framework in which safety operates, including workplace legislation.
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment and public policy of the health sector and the philosophy of person-centred practice
  • Outstanding interpersonal and verbal communication skills including demonstrated skills in consultation, facilitation, negotiation and influence
