This report has been a key input into the organisation's Corporate Plan, which is designed to improve ambulance response to the Victorian community and the health, wellbeing and capability of staff.

About the role
The Director, Emergency Management leads the development of emergency management planning across Ambulance Victoria. The position holder will be required to forge collaborative partnerships internally and externally and will be responsible for ensuring the appropriate level of response to meet community needs. The planning focus of the role is on prevention, preparedness, response and recovery in alignment with the State Health Emergency Response Plan (SHERP). The Director, Emergency Management acts as the State Critical Incident Manager State Health Commander and will be required to engage with media while coordinating the resources of our Clinical Operations, Operational Communications and Logistics divisions. Planning activities will include operational response to critical incidents as well as preparedness for major events such as New Year's Eve, the Grand Prix, Spring Carnival.

About you
The successful candidate will have an operational leadership background including experience engaging others at State level. You will need a sound understanding of critical incident management, including the capacity to recognise when escalation is appropriate. While you will be supported by an Emergency Management team, you will be required to engage the broader business to work towards an appropriate emergency response, including optimising the use of emergency management capability in various regions across Victoria. As the organisational representative for emergency management, you will also be abreast of international trends.

The role will require you to either be registered with the Paramedicine Board of Australia or to alternatively have extensive emergency management capability and relevant operational experience. Significant knowledge of ambulance or emergency service delivery operations is a necessity, as is a valid Victorian driver's licence and current Working with Children Check. You will need to be able to demonstrate success in a senior role where you have developed, implemented and evaluated process improvement. Successful candidate attributes will reflect Ambulance Victoria's overarching commitment to the protection, safety and well-being of patients, staff and the community.
