Ambulance Victoria (AV) is seeking an experienced Senior Workplace Relations Legal Advisor to join our People and Culture Division.  This is a full time, permanent role located at Doncaster.  The successful candidate will also have the flexibility of working from home.

About the role

Reporting to the Lead Workplace Relations, the role will provide professional legal and authoritative advice and direction to the AV Executive and managers regarding enterprise bargaining initiatives, the prevention and resolution of disputes and grievances, union consultation, performance management processes and termination of employment.  In addition the key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Liaising with specialists, including coordinating and providing authoritative written and verbal advice on complex and challenging matters
  • Identifying and responding to new and emerging legal issues
  • Representing the People and Culture Department at meetings with external stakeholders including Government Departments and unions
  • Providing support, advice and education to Workplace Relations Advisors and People Services Leads and Partners in the appropriate policies and procedures for handling disputes and negotiations.

About you

You will have an appropriate tertiary qualification (LLB) admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory, or eligibility for admission to practice.  This will be supported by your extensive experience in providing concise and accurate legal advice on a range of issues to public sector clients and organisations.  Your ability to translate complex industrial relations legislation into plain English verbal and written communication, will be crucial.

You enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic and cohesive team environment, where your solid interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills will assist you to build and maintain effective working relationships and gain the support and cooperation of others. Your strong conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills together with your strong attention to detail, and well-honed judgement and decision making skills will see you succeed in this role.

The successful candidate will have a current Victorian Driver's Licence and if required, be willing to travel throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.  Successful applicants will also be required to undertake an Australian National Criminal Check and pre-employment checks.

AV has introduced salary bands, and this position is graded at AV5.  The AV grade salary range for an AV5 position is $116,916 to $138,214pa plus 9.5% superannuation.
