Research Assistant

We are seeking a motivated, analytically minded individual for this full-time, 12-month fixed term position based at Blackburn North (hybrid work options available). 

About the role 

Reporting to the Director Research & Evaluation this is fantastic opportunity to progress your career. Responsibilities of this position include (not limited to): 

  • Undertake analysis and research on a range of issues and provide analytical support for projects within the Research Department and wider AV
  • Support our research governance processes ensuring that external and internal research projects are conducted ethically and with appropriate oversight
  • Effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure business unit needs are understood, all aspects of a research project are considered and objectives are met
  • Coordinate and support data collection for research studies and registries from internal and external sources, including clinical trials
  • Develop data reports to assist in the monitoring of AV performance and data extracts for external researchers as required
  • Perform data entry, cleaning and analysis for research projects and registries whilst ensuring all ethics requirements are met 

About you 

The successful candidate will be tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline (preferably at post graduate level) together with relevant experience in health, emergency services or the transport industry. Additional requirements include: 

  • Well-developed conceptual and problem solving skills with highly developed quantitative analysis skills
  • Experience in data collection, analysis and the preparation of research reports and publications, preferably in a service delivery environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the development of data extracts, data quality control (e.g. cleaning & coding) and statistical analysis of large complex data sets
  • Knowledge and experience using relevant software tools (e.g. statistical packages, database tools)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills enabling effective stakeholder interactions and the preparation of well-structured, accurate and concise documents and reports
  • Attention to detail using appropriate checking processes to ensure information is recorded accurately

This position is graded at AV3 under the AV (Management and Administrative Staff) Enterprise Agreement 2021.
