About the position 

Ambulance Victoria is currently seeking a suitably experienced senior leader in the position of Executive Director, Clinical Operations. 

A key member of the Executive and working closely with the Chief Executive, this position will provide a high level of strategic leadership and direction to AV's Clinical Operations to deliver high quality and responsive pre-hospital emergency care and treatment for every patient, every time.   

With an ability to effectively lead the Clinical Operations Division, drive cultural transformation and foster teamwork and connection, this position will be critical to:

  • Contributing, as a member of the Executive, to the development and implementation of AV's strategic plan and objectives.
  • Defining, in consultation with the Executive team and wider organisation, AV's direction for Clinical Operations, to enable and deliver best possible treatment and care for every patient.
  • Providing professional knowledge and expertise in the development and implementation of innovative and effective strategies for the consistent delivery of high-quality clinical outcomes.
  • Positioning AV in the health and emergency service systems as experts in patient-focussed emergency/pre-hospital healthcare to the Victorian community.
  • Provision of open and effective leadership to build a high-performance, collaborative culture that fosters continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Leading and contributing to a safe, lawful, and respectful workplace culture through the modelling of ethical and positive behaviours consistent with the AV values. 

About you

Suited to highly motivated and strategic senior leader, the successful applicant will possess:

  • Tertiary or post graduate qualification in a relevant clinical discipline (medicine, paramedicine or equivalent) and tertiary qualifications in business, management or public administration with extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and extensive relevant experience.
  • Significant knowledge and experience of ambulance service operations including the development, implementation and evaluation of service delivery and operational programs, including the day-to-day running and development of an organisation and/or division.
  • Experience in driving and implementing strategic cultural, organisational, and transformational change and a commitment to build a responsive, future focused and contemporary culture.
  • A sound understanding of the principles and practices for delivery of patient safety and consumer experience programs, with experience applying a patient-centred lens to the design and delivery of services and workforce learning and development.
  • A high level of communication with an ability to build and maintain relationships and influence, negotiate, and generate buy-in with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • A coaching, mentoring and leadership approach to motivate, encourage, and support teams across the employee lifecycle. 

This position will be a 3-year fixed-term position. Hybrid working options are available however it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at our Doncaster headquarters and across the state.
