What you'll be doing

This Clinician will provide counselling to children, young people and families whom are identified within the care system by Family and Community Services (FACS) and/or the Children's Court Clinic where there has been substantiated physical abuse, emotional abuse and/or neglect/exposure to domestic violence.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Relevant degree in Social Work and membership (or demonstrated eligibility for membership if required by professional association) of the professional association; in addition to meeting the criteria for a Health Professional level 3; OR full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Psychologist; or Registered Nurse with Post Graduate qualifications in Mental Health and/or Family Therapy.
  • Demonstrated experience and advanced clinical practice & knowledge in the field of child protection, child and family counselling; including two years minimum clinical practice applying trauma informed counselling models with children and young people
  • Demonstrated significant knowledge of child protection issues, including relevant legislation and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated high level understanding, ability to work collaboratively and maintain relationships with interagency partners including NSW Police Force and Family and Community Services, health services and other key stakeholders in relation to children and young people who have experienced serious and criminal sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership in the area of child protection in a multidisciplinary team environment together with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence based practice.
  • Capacity to provide staff supervision, staff and community education, clinical and service consultation and conduct quality improvement activities as required.
  • Demonstrated advanced level of communication (computer, written and verbal), interpersonal and negotiation skills with variety of client groups, staff and agencies.
  • Evidence of current unrestricted NSW drivers licence and willingness to travel as part of the role.
