What you'll be doing

The Senior Clinical Occupational Therapist position is responsible for providing assessment and treatment primarily to the Adults services however at time paediatric services maybe required on outreach or during times of low staffing. The Broken Hill Health Allied Health Service utilises a collaborative practice model in a multidisciplinary team. 

The clinical services span the areas of Acute Inpatient, Subacute, Outpatient/Hand Therapy and community. Outreach and telehealth services may also be components of services that will be required. (Please note due to the vast distances of outreach services either adult or paediatric service provision maybe required with appropriate support from an appropriate source. 
It is expected that the successful person would have experience in all/majority of the above areas or the willingness to undertake further professional development in areas that require upskilling. The position will be based within a particular case load depending on negotiation with the Occupational Therapy Manager and staffing levels within the department.

Skills and Knowledge

  1. Degree in Occupational Therapy with registration via APRHA and ability to be registered via appropriate professional organisation
  2. Demonstrated current clinical knowledge and skills regarding Occupational Therapy practice in adult case load interventions.
  3. Demonstrated high level Written and oral communication skills.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence based practice.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work independently, as a member of the multidisciplinary team, prioritise and manage a mixed caseload.
  6. Capacity to provide staff and student supervision, clinical and service consultation. Demonstrated computer and keyboard skills using word processing, software and database packages.
  7. Current unrestricted drivers license and Working with Children Check.
  8. Demonstrated ability to adhere to the defined standards of ethical and professional conduct consistent with the current NSW Health Code of Conduct and/or relevant professional standards where applicable
