The University of Sydney is Australia’s first university and has an outstanding global reputation for academic and research excellence. It employs over 7600 permanent staff, supporting over 60,000 students.

The University of Sydney’s Faculty of Dentistry has been training dental practitioners for over a hundred years. The faculty offers a rigorous research and training program and produces research scholars of international standing and highly skilled general practice and specialist clinicians.

The Faculty of Dentistry’s mission is to “Put the Mouth into Health” through excellence in interdisciplinary research and education. Our vision is to optimise oral health and wellbeing of the communities with which we work and of those beyond through excellence in education and research.

The faculty is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor or Professor to lead the Discipline of Oral Rehabilitation.

The successful applicant will lead the discipline through the development of an interdisciplinary research program involving University and Local Health District networks, and the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research and coursework students. This appointment will also contribute to teaching, examination and curriculum development in oral rehabilitation with a primary responsibility for prosthodontics and working with other disciplines on oral implants in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs.

It is expected that the incumbent will build on their significant achievements in prosthodontics and oral rehabilitation, especially in collaborative research and postgraduate education, and will collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop comprehensive evidence-based oral rehabilitation standards of care.

There are exceptional opportunities for research collaboration, not only at Westmead but also across the University of Sydney and the broader Sydney scientific community.

This appointment offers an outstanding opportunity to lead a key discipline area for the University of Sydney.
