We are seeking a number of researchers to support an NHMRC funded Translational Australian Clinical Toxicology (TACT) program grant under Professor Nick Buckley in the Discipline of Pharmacology.  The program aims to address research gaps in in key human toxicology issues and ensure rapid translation of these results into practice and regulation.  The group has established the two largest clinical cohort studies on poisoning in the world and demonstrated success in prospective case-finding through the Poisons Information Centre network.  We also have extensive experience in risk assessment and toxicity modelling.

You will carry out research relating to the group’s work, contribute to presentations and research publications and help build research capacity by assisting in sourcing and securing further funding. You will also have the opportunity to develop your own research ideas within TACT’s program of work.

You will be working with internationally renowned experts, within one of only a few research collaborative groups in the world working in this area. The group includes national and international collaborators as well as overseas research sites in Sri Lanka.

To succeed in securing this role you will have:

• experience in research project coordination in a related area
• demonstrated knowledge of research governance and regulation
• knowledge of research design methods, particularly in epidemiological methodology
• experience in preparation of scientific publications
• experience in preparing and submitting ethics applications 
• excellent oral and written communication skills
• excellent organisation skills.

For appointment at the more senior level you will also have:

• experience in research project management (desirable)
• a history of research evidenced by peer reviewed publications
• demonstrated knowledge of research governance and regulation including ethics
• experience in writing and submitting grant applications
• experience in writing scientific publications, particularly peer reviewed journal articles
• experience with higher degree research student supervision or co-supervision (desirable).

All candidates are expected to have research qualifications (e.g. Hons/MPhil/PhD), or demonstrate equivalent relevant qualifications and experience. A PhD or equivalent is required for appointment at the more senior level.

The appointment would be for an initial term of two years with the possibility of renewal dependent upon funding and need.
