About the opportunity 

The successful Research Assistant in this position will work on the NHMRC-funded REAL project, a longitudinal study of child health from birth to 3 years. The study will begin in 2017 and continue to 2021. Under the supervision of the Project Manager and Senior Psychologist, the Research Assistant will manage day-to-day data collection for the project and will facilitate the recruitment and follow-up of participants.

The study, and this position, will be based primarily in Liverpool at the Ingham Institute and Liverpool Hospital, with management occurring in the School of Psychology and the Brain and Mind Centre at the University of Sydney, Camperdown campus.

  • Bachelor Degree with Honours in psychology or cognate discipline
  • High level of organisational skills, including an ability to undertake a range of diverse tasks;

Some of the main duties will include:

  • Collecting research data by conducting assessments with families and their children, and entering/storing data in appropriate statistical software
  • Recruiting, coordinating and scheduling in research participants, and following up participant attendance
  • providing research administrative support for the REAL project
  • preparation of research reports, documents and presentations 
  • supporting the design of research work being undertaken
  • ensuring that ethics guidelines, standards and WHS requirements are met
