About the opportunity
The Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Sydney is recognised as one of the leading centres for pharmacy education in Australia. It enjoys an outstanding national and international reputation for research and innovation and undertakes collaborative research with other faculties of the University, with teaching hospitals, with research institutes, with the pharmaceutical industry, and with the profession. Research in the Faculty covers a broad spectrum of pharmaceutical and clinical sciences ranging from the design, synthesis, testing and mechanism of action of drugs, through studies on methods of drug delivery and on the fate of drugs in humans and animals, to research on the clinical and sociological aspects of pharmacy. The Charles Perkins Centre, where this position is located, is a multi-disciplinary research centre, established in 2012, that aims to ease the burden of diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease, and their related conditions, through innovative research collaborations, research partnerships and teaching.
This Research Assistant position is part of an international NHMRC-funded research project comparing regulatory safety advisories on medicines in Australia, Canada, the European Union and the United States. Reporting to Dr. Barbara Mintzes, you will provide technical and operational support to the Chief Investigator and the team to support the research activity for the work area. This includes preparing relevant materials in collaboration with team members, performing fundamental aspects of research work, including data coding and analysis, ethics assistance with a qualitative interview study, as well as providing essential technical and operational support for all project components. As the successful candidate, you will be expected to coordinate the activities associated with research projects, and work towards ensuring that study protocols are followed precisely, and studies are prepared for and run smoothly. When working within a research team, this may also include responsibility for any associated work carried out by students, for example providing teaching support (in terms of demonstrations in tutorials/practicals) and assisting with technical preparation for software and data analysis, and data storage.
