The School of Chemistry is a very large research active school comprising over 30 full time academic staff and approximately 100 research staff, 100 research students and 34 technical, professional and administrative staff. It administers and delivers undergraduate teaching for approx. 2500 students.

This position will be administered by the School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) within the

faculty of Science but based in the Charles Perkins Centre. The Charles Perkins Centre aims to ease the burden of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease by generating collaborative interdisciplinary research and education that translates into real-world solutions. The School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) is a new School consisting of staff previously in the Schools of Biological Sciences and Molecular Biosciences, the Faculty of Veterinary Science, and the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, and forms part of the Division of Natural Sciences (DNS). The DNS enrolled 6,177 undergraduate students, 1,129 postgraduate students and 1,108 international full fee paying students (u/g and p/g) in 2014. The School has reporting lines to the Dean of each of the three faculties for line management of the Head, and the management of the School should be in liaison with the Division Board.  The creation of SOLES is a major component of the broader Life, Earth and Environmental Sciences (LEES) program designed to significantly improve the quality and efficiency of teaching and build new infrastructure to support and enhance capacity in research and teaching. It is a large School divided into five research and teaching clusters each with its own Chair.
