Education Support Officer

About the opportunity 

The Education Support Officer will provide a broad range of education administrative and operational support to Academic and Teaching staff to meet the educational support needs of the Faculty. The position will provide education support services in line with academic requirements and the overall timetable for the work area. The position will be responsible for the coordination of and administrative support for clinical teaching at Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School across all stages of the Sydney Medical Program, including timetabling, evaluation, monitoring of attendance and assistance with coordinating structured teaching sessions for Academic and Teaching staff. The role calls for a need to work collaboratively and collegially with a range of people, including clinicians, staff, students and academic tutors to deliver a high quality education program.

  • Tertiary qualifications with relevant work experience; and/or equivalent combination of relevant experience and training
  • experience delivering education programmes, preferably in a tertiary education environment
  • Sound understanding of timetablinq/rosterinq of student activities
  • Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems such as Canvas would be highly regarded

The successful candidate will also have effective and tactful communication skills (both verbal and written) together with strong problem solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judqement along with the ability to prioritise workload during busy periods. Knowledge of University policies and procedures and administrative processes within a tertiary environment would be highly regarded.

Located in Wahroonga, on Sydney’s North Shore, Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School is a clinical teaching unit of The University of Sydney, Sydney Medical School, and is its first fully-fledged Clinical School based within a private hospital. Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School provides a multidisciplinary learning environment and increases the breadth of opportunity for clinical teaching. It uses traditional ward-based teaching and takes advantage of initiatives for clinical care delivery in the private sector, including teaching in the consulting rooms of specialists who hold appointments at the Hospital. Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School also promotes increased familiarity between the private healthcare sector and its future workforce, leading to a better connection between the training experience and future professional demands and expectations. This position is based at Sydney Adventist Hospital and it is expected that the incumbent will demonstrate understanding and support of the mission and values of Sydney Adventist Hospital.
