Clinical Trials Coordinator

  • Fantastic opportunity to support the trials set-up and conduct of the PATHway Clinical Trial within the Institute of Bone and Joint Research group (IBJR)
  • Located at the Kolling Institute, Royal North Shore Hospital Campus
  • Fixed Term for 12 months, full-time position, however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated and base salary $84K p.a plus superannuation

About the opportunity 

The Clinical Trials coordinator will provide clinical trial knowledge and expertise to the Clinical Trial Project Manager, Chief Investigators, Research Academics and the clinical trial team to support the trials set-up and conduct of the PATHway Clinical Trial. This includes actively contributing to clinical trial activities, with special focus on engaging with hospitals sites and staff and recruiting participants to the trial. The duties will include but not be limited to writing ethics applications, undertaking coordination of core aspects of clinical trial work and contributing to data collection and entry. Clinical trial coordinators serve to aid in the coordination, management and conduct of clinical trials under the supervision of a designated trial manager. Working within a larger group of researcher and investigators.

  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline with relevant experience in the related therapeutic field. A background in clinical trial data entry and data management, education in health or a health-related field and an understanding and working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice
  • extensive experience in developing and working on clinical trial projects, including expertise in using clinical trial protocols, experimental design, ethics submissions and grant applications. Including sound knowledge of ICH/GCP
  • excellent computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office, Excel. Previous experience in data collection, data handling and data management and proficiency using smart devices
  • minimum of 1 years previous experience in a clinical / laboratory setting. Knowledge of, and interest in, bone and joint research is desirable; patient-facing experience ideally in a healthcare setting will be a bonus
  • current driver’s license and willingness and ability to travel to study sites

The successful candidate will also have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work.

The position will be located within the Institute of Bone and Joint Research group (IBJR), a vibrant and growing team of senior academics, professional/ postdoctoral researchers and postgraduate students at the Kolling Institute, Royal North Shore Hospital campus at St Leonards, Sydney. The Rheumatology Research division within Sydney Northern Medical School is part of the partnership between the University and the Royal North Shore Hospital. The jobholder will work under the University but with a patient-centric focus and approach, with an aim to conduct practice- and policy-relevant epidemiological research, as well as basic research, to improve musculoskeletal health. The Rheumatology Department is devoted to advancing the understanding of the disorders and diseases of the musculoskeletal system, their diagnosis and treatments.
