About the opportunity 

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about Allied Health to join our team as a Research Officer to contribute to activities which promote, strengthen, and advance the participation of NSLHD allied health staff in research activities. We are looking for someone keen to actively contribute to research activities, designing research protocols, undertaking core aspects of research work, and contributing to analysis and dissemination of key findings.

This is a part time role working 17.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE) with flexibility to negotiate work pattern.

• tertiary qualifications likely with Honours in appropriate discipline with relevant experience in related field. May have (or be working towards) completing further studies such as PhD or have extensive specialist experience in the field of research spanning basic and translational methods.
• Extensive experience in developing and working on research projects, including expertise in using research protocols, experimental design, ethics submissions and grant applications
• Management skills including an ability to build and maintain ongoing collaborative working relationships with clinicians, hospital committees and departments, faculty staff, faculty and university committees
• highly developed analytical skills including the ability to consolidate and present data effectively, and monitor and review systems

About us
Whilst not essential, a post-graduate qualification (e.g. PhD) in a related field is desirable. Our ideal candidate would have a true passion for and solid understanding of Allied Health.

The purpose of this position is to assist the establishment of a new research strategy for Allied Health clinicians across the NSLHD. The position will take an active part on a variety of research projects carried out across the NSLHD under the direction of the Professor of Allied Health.

The Faculty of Health Sciences is the largest health sciences faculty in Australia consisting of seven disciplines, five research groups and three research centres. The Faculty provides professional preparation programs for a comprehensive range of health science professionals, as well as general degrees in health science. The Faculty enjoys a strong and dynamic research culture resulting from its commitment to achieving and sustaining research excellence in areas of established and emerging research strengths. The Faculty has approximately 250 academic staff, 100 professional staff and 4,500 students.
