About the opportunity 
 

We are seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to provide technical knowledge and expertise in support of the Chief Investigator and other senior investigators to expand the research program on human herpesviruses. The main focus of this role is performing laboratory-based research predominantly working with Varicella zoster virus (VZV), herpes simplex virus (HSV), and human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), mammalian cell culture and molecular biology and immunological based techniques to further our understanding of how VZV, HSV and HCMV interact with key human target cells.

  • PhD in virology or immunology
  • significant experience with mammalian cell culture and virus production in mammalian cells
  • relevant experience in techniques such as flow cytometry, immunofluorescent microscopy, molecular and cell biology techniques and immunology based assays
  • extensive experience in developing and working on research projects, including expertise in using research protocols, experimental design, ethics submissions and grant applications

Our ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently to deliver quality results to a defined schedule and have experience in training or supervision of research students and staff.
