Postdoctoral Research Support Assistant

  • Postdoctoral Research Support Associate to support the Director of the Institute for Musculoskeletal Heath
  • Located in School of Public Health / Institute for Musculoskeletal Health based on the Camperdown Campus
  • Fixed Term for 2 years with potential extension, base salary $93K plus superannuation

About the opportunity 

The Postdoctoral Research Support Associate works under the guidance of the Director and is responsible for

providing research and administrative support to the Director of the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health. This includes performing and contributing to research activities as directed, collating and reporting research data, conducting data and literature reviews and preparation and review of grant applications, manuscripts, presentations etc. Other administrative support to the Director, which will include preparation and maintenance of records, documents and reports to support their research and funding applications and operational obligations.

This is a varied support role in which your day to day responsibilities will include conducting data analysis and literary searches, preparing preliminary reports for the Director and collaborating the design of research programs/projects. Alongside this you will undertake complex research and prepare analysis on a defined area of focus whilst monitoring, cataloging and reporting on the process of the research work undertaken by the Director.

About you

As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Support Associate who can demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and attributes;  

  • a Doctoral qualification in health science or public health or related field
  • extensive experience in developing and working on research projects, including expertise in preparing research protocols, experimental design, ethics submissions and grant applications
  • experience in conducting original health research or clinical trials and engaging in scholarly activity
  • experience in writing research papers and grant applications. Track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals
  • strong numeracy skills together with a sound understanding of data interpretation, analysis and/or statistical analyses
  • working knowledge of software programs such as Concur, Records Management, and Content Management Systems is desirable

The successful incumbent will also have excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are essential to be able to deal with day to day operational matters combined with a strong focus on producing a high quality of work.
