Research Assistant - Addiction Medicine

  • Part or full time fixed term for 12 months with possibility of further extension
  • Remuneration package: $77K-$83K which includes leave loading and up to 17% super

About the opportunity 

We are a dynamic multidisciplinary research team with backgrounds in Addiction Medicine, Clinical Psychology, Psychopharmacology and Public Health. Our research investigates the management and treatment of alcohol use disorders and comorbid physical and mental. Our work covers a range of areas including interventions (clinical trials of pharmacotherapy, psychosocial interventions), discovery and mechanisms of addictive behaviours (neuroimaging) and translation into practice

As a Research Assistant you will assist with the coordination of our clinical research of treatments for alcohol use disorder including clinical trials. You will provide support to the Chief Investigators and the multidisciplinary team to support the clinical trial requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, preparing relevant materials in collaboration with our team members, performing fundamental aspects of clinical research and facilitating the efficient operation of our clinical research via staff and patient liaison. In addition to this you will coordinate the activities associated with our clinical research projects and work towards ensuring that experiments (e.g. neuroimaging) are prepared for and run smoothly.

About you

  • A Bachelor degree with honours in a related field such as psychology or science
  • Experience working on clinical research projects, including expertise in using research clinical trial protocols and ethics submissions
  • Experience in a research-intensive and/or a clinical environment
  • Experience in advanced skills data analysis, using statically analysis tools to carry out scientific literary searches, and preparing literary reviews for further analysis
  • Demonstrated understanding of mental health and substance use issues
  • Working understanding of relevant aspects of the Work Health and Safety Policy and relevant legislation, including Safe Laboratory Practices, as applicable to the work environment
  • A current NSW Driver’s License
