• Provide research and operational support to the Neurology Laboratory at the Brain and Mind Centre, specifically in Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM)
• Located on the Camperdown Campus in the Faculty of Medicine and Health
• A 3 year, full-time fixed-term opportunity with a base salary of $130K p.a. plus leave loading and a generous employer’s contribution to superannuation

About the opportunity 

Actively lead and perform or coordinate fundamental aspects of the research work and facilitate the efficient operation of the laboratory. The role is to be filled by a postdoctoral or clinical researcher with a background in neuroscience, and preferably in neuromuscular research. In addition to this, the incumbent will have sufficient knowledge to lead the activities associated with the research projects and work towards ensuring that experiments are prepared for and run smoothly.

The Rouse Senior Research Fellow must be able to work independently and to collaborate with researchers and clinicians from different biomedical backgrounds. The role includes assisting with grant writing/reporting and lab supervision of research students and junior lab members as appropriate for experience.

This is a level C position; your experience will be taken into consideration when discussing remuneration.

Rouse Senior Research Fellow who has:

• a PhD in medical research or a related discipline (submitted or completed); or completion of advanced training in neurology
• demonstrated commitment to clinical research excellence
• the capacity to coordinate a clinical research team, and, where relevant, internal and external laboratory researchers who are contributing to the project
• strong theoretical and demonstrated hands-on experience in laboratory-based research or clinical research, preferably in the field of neuroscience
• evidence of a growing publication track record with first-author publications, preferably showing knowledge or expertise in muscle disease or related neuroscience field
• experience with handling and documenting sample preparation.
