Where you'll be working
The Clinical Midwifery Educator (CME) after-hours will facilitate the clinical skills and practice development of midwives and nursing staff within the Maternity Services of the Royal Hospital for Women. The CME will be rostered to work a rotating roster and will liaise with the After Hours Nurse Manager at the beginning of each shift.
 
This position will support mandatory skill development for all staff including agency staff members across Maternity Services and extending to Gynaecological Services within the Royal Hospital for Women.

To provide coordination, delivery and evaluation of clinical midwifery education (including programs) at the ward/unit level. Such education may include orientation and/or transitioning for new midwifery staff, undergraduate and casual midwives as well as meeting the ongoing educational needs of existing midwifery staff. Provide clinical supervision at the point of care within everyday clinical practice, in line with the ANMC Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.

Selection Criteria:

1. Registered Midwife (Division 1) with AHPRA.

2. Holds a relevant clinical or education post registration qualification and 3 years clinical experience in high risk maternity settings.

3. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

4. Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles).

5. Demonstrated clinical teaching & facilitation skills.

6. Demonstrable knowledge of midwifery curricula and N&M Board requirements for Midwifery Practice and ANMC competencies for registered midwives.

7. Demonstrated knowledge of competency attainment and assessment.

8. Computer literacy  and understanding of hospital information systems.
