Location: Cairns servicing Cape York communities 
Status: Full Time Permanent 
Salary: $83,383 - $91,452 p.a. + 11% superannuation contribution

About Us 

Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.

About the Opportunity

The Human Resources Officer is responsible for providing high quality support to the Human Resources Manager and organisational managers for the delivery of a range of human resource services. The position will focus on the employment cycle including recruitment, onboarding, support in the probation and performance review processes together with the provision of general human resources advice.

Pre-employment screening for vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases will be conducted for the successful applicant.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant Human Resources or Business discipline with a focus on human resources 
  • Demonstrated previous experience supporting and coordinating complex Human Resources processes across the employment cycle.
  • The ability to coordinate recruitment and selection activities. 
  • Demonstrated experience in providing industrial relations advice to management. 
  • The ability to interpret organisational policies and procedures, Employment Agreements and relevant legislation, including the Fair Work Act 2009
  • Previous experience using HRIS ELMO is highly desirable. 
  • High level knowledge and skills in Human Resources processes, practices and systems
  • Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs
  • Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement
  • AFP National Police Check
