Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.
THE DEPARTMENT
Alfred Health has been provided with funding over 6 years by the Federal Government to establish The TrialHub, to improve access and participation in clinical trials across geographical regions in Victoria, so people with cancer, and in particular those with rare cancers have access to clinical trials no matter where they live. TrialHub provides a unique, holistic and practical clinical trial partnership outreach program to expand access to, and participation, in clinical trials, particularly for indigenous and other disadvantaged Australians in outer metropolitan, regional, rural and remote areas. The program was a start-up program when it was awarded the contract for $24.6 million in funding from the Australian Government Department of Health (the Department) in December 2019, to be completed on the 30th September 2025.
THE ROLE
TrialHub formed The Rare Cancer Clinical Trial Alliance in 2023 to provide collaborative strategic direction and leadership to enhance access and participation to clinical trials in Rare Cancers (RC) across Victoria, particularly for those living in regional, rural and remote areas.
