An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced postdoctoral researcher with clinical trials expertise to strengthen an established pain management translational research team.

What you'll be doing

The Principal Scientific Officer, Pain Pathways Research will work closely with the Head of unit to coordinate a clinical trials research program developing value-based models of care (treatment pathways) and more reliable tests to demonstrate pain-specific nervous system changes (neural pathways).

Your contribution to improved patient treatment pathways and better testing will enhance the effectiveness of Pain Medicine Service provision in NSW and beyond (Australia and globally).

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them
  • A Masters in Science or Doctor of Philosophy, or other equivalent qualification and at least ten years post-graduate experience in an appropriate scientific field
  • Demonstrated experience working with human research subjects
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical trials coordination
  • Experience in data analysis including the use of statistical programs
  • Substantial expertise and track record in the preparation of scientific papers for publication
  • Experience working within collaborative research teams as well as the ability to work autonomously with minimal direction
