The Opportunity

The purpose of this role is to bring deep subject matter expertise in the field of workers’ compensation and injury management. Partnering across both the Chapter and the Tribe you will ensure we have the functional capability, technical expertise and support to ensure consistent practices and the best outcomes at the individual claim level.

The Capability Lead plays the role of escalation point for Squad Members seeking technical advice on a claim, and will support and coach Squad Members to develop the right strategy or approach to solve a roadblock or problem - including advice on how to engage the TPA, return to work and rehabilitation approaches.

What you’ll do:

  • You will provide technical expertise, advice and strategy to squad members while planning and coordinating regular cadences for claim reviews
  • Partner with Product Owners to ensure Squad delivery of individual cases meets our standards and frameworks, providing assistance with quality coaching where needed
  • Create and maintain a capability framework for our injury management professionals to define our desired capabilities, and create a roadmap for capability building, professional development and continuous improvement
  • Own our approach to data and metrics, creating the source of truth for workers’ compensation and injury management data at Woolworths, and gatekeeping our approach to avoid the proliferation of reports
  • Translate data into actionable insights and work cross-functionally with Chapter, Tribe and businesses to identify and act on opportunities surfaced in our data

What you’ll bring:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the field of workers’ compensation and injury management, specifically in claims management end-to-end
  • Able to gather, collate and analyse data to generate meaningful and actionable insights - data visualisation a great bonus
  • Excellent working knowledge of the legislation and regulations for each jurisdiction, and experience managing a wide variety of claims - have a “strategic toolkit” you can draw on to help others
  • Excellent understanding of workers’ compensation self-insurance regimes, requirements and practices
  • Project management and project-team participation skills - able to lead projects but also able to contribute as a member of a project team
  • Understanding of capability frameworks, development planning, talent frameworks and adept at coaching and training others - Coaching or training qualifications desirable but not required

What you’ll experience

  • The opportunity to grow within the group
  • Strong mentorship and development; opportunity to collaborate with some of the brightest and best minds in Australia
  • Hybrid or fully remote working arrangements depending on your home location
  • Unparalleled growth opportunities
  • Get your Woolies worth through team member benefits across all of our brands
