We now have an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Infectious Disease Modelling and Epidemiology, within the Division of Tropical Health and Medicine at James Cook University (JCU). A fixed term contract to 17 June 2018, this role can be based at the Cairns or Townsville campus, both located in picturesque tropical North Queensland.
Our Division
Through its research, teaching and engagement activities, the Division of Tropical Health and Medicine at James Cook University is at the forefront of improving health in rural, remote, Indigenous and tropical communities within Australia and world-wide.
The Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine (AITHM) is a newly-established tropical health and medical research institute based within the Division of Tropical health and Medicine with key nodes in Townsville, Cairns, the Torres Strait and Mackay.
AITHM's programs will encompass public health, biomolecular, clinical, translational, and health systems research that is strongly focused on the health issues of most importance to tropical Australia, delivering significant public health benefit locally, regionally and globally.
Your Role
AITHM is seeking a post-doctoral researcher with expertise in mathematical modelling, who is ready to apply these skills to infectious diseases transmission models. Work will involve liaising with public health program managers at multiple levels. A highly quantitative skill set is desirable; candidates with a background in mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics and computer science are encouraged to apply.
