Research Consultant - Senior Terminologist

The Australian E-Health Research Centre (AEHRC - http://aehrc.com/) is a world class centre undertaking research and development across health and biomedical informatics and health services.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated technical specialist in our Health Data on FHIR team.

As the successful candidate you will collaborate in scientific activities. You will use your research and development to make a hands-on contribution to delivering solutions that can be used across multiple projects in an increasingly information-based industry. These solutions will help determine the future of clinical terminology deployments for future research.

Your duties will include:

  • Work with clients and CSIRO researchers and software engineers in developing clinical terminology, software, and solutions to tackle issues in the collection, integration and analysis of clinical and other health data.
  • Apply understanding of clinical practice and language to terminology development and modelling requirements to meet the needs of our stakeholders and customers.
  • Develop terminology value sets and accurately model clinical terms and concepts in order to support research and development projects.

Location:  Herston – RBWH, Brisbane QLD
Salary:  AU$113k – AU$132k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

  • Knowledge and skills gained through tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as Health Informatics, Computer Science, Nursing, Pharmacy and Laboratory Science.
  • Extensive experience working in the area of clinical terminology, with significant and wide-ranging links to the clinical terminology community.
  • Demonstrated programming skills, preferably with experience of multiple languages and platforms (e.g., JavaScript, Java, Python).
  • Deep understanding of the science underpinning data interoperability in healthcare.
