This is an exciting opportunity for a Manager-Clinician to make a significant contribution to Victoria’s public mental health system.

About the Company

Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria. Forensicare seeks a suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic person for a full time ongoing position as Manager of the Mental Health Court Liaison Service (MHCLS).

The MHCLS is a court based assessment and advice service that operates in seven metropolitan courts: Melbourne, Broadmeadows, Ringwood, Heidelberg, Dandenong, Frankston and Sunshine. Mental health clinicians undertake clinical assessments in order to determine the presence or absence of serious mental illness, and provide feedback based on these assessments to the court.

About the Role

This position plays a critical role in managing the work of Court Liaison clinicians and providing clinical coverage at the various Court locations for planned leave in order to ensure continuity of service. The position also presently oversees a 12 month Mental Health Community Corrections Screening Project based at Melbourne and Sunshine Magistrates’ Court.

The position is based at the Community Forensic Mental Health Service (CFMHS) in Clifton Hill, 15 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD, although travel and regular on site work at key Court locations will be required in this role.

 The successful applicant will:

  • Be a registered mental health professional with a minimum of five years post qualification experience.
  • Have the ability to manage a multi-disciplinary mental health team .
  • Demonstrate highly developed skills in communication and in developing effective relationships with a wide variety of external and internal stakeholders.
  • Have a good knowledge of forensic mental health, relevant legislation and service context in the Courts.
