About the company

Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria.
These positions are located at the Community Forensic Mental Health Service (CFMHS) in Clifton Hill, 15 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD but may require travel to regional Victoria.
CFMHS is a specialist state-wide agency that works with individuals who have a serious mental health illness and have offended, or are at risk of offending.

 About the role:

Several full time positions available.

These positions are open to flexible working arrangements. Part Time employment will also be considered.

Psychologists in the Problem Behaviour Program (PBP) provide clinical psychological expertise to the program at CFMHS and undertake assessments and treatment of clients in the PBP as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The psychologist will provide consultancy and advice to other agencies and key stakeholders. 

The psychologist may be involved in research and scholarly writing.

In addition, the senior psychologist shares responsibility for the supervision and training of other psychologists or staff within the PBP as well as postgraduate psychology students

 Duties:

  • Provides specialist psychological, psychometric assessments and reports including reports for the Courts.
  • Provides an advanced range of advice on psychological services including advice on the management and treatment of complex patient issues to other clinicians.
  • Provides individual and/or group interventions as appropriate.
  • Provides consultation on psychology related issues within the PBP and to external clinicians and agencies as appropriate.

 Skills and experience:

  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Psychologists’ Registration Board of Australia.
  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent
  • Endorsement or eligibility for endorsement by the Psychologists Registration Board of Australia, in the area of clinical psychology.
  • Extensive knowledge of the current psychological approaches in working with mentally, and/or behaviorally or sexually disordered clients in the forensic mental health setting.
  • Previous working experience in a mental health facility, correctional service, or a forensic mental health service
  • For senior positions, at least five years experience as a psychologist.
  • Expertise in clinical forensic psychology including forensic assessments (i.e., court ordered assessments, assessment of risk for violence) and intervention with offenders and/or forensic patients.
  • Knowledge in clinical neuropsychology including the assessment of functional deficits.
