Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor (Translational Proteomics)

Salary: Level C AUD$116,901 - AUD$134,792 p.a. or Level D AUD$140,758 -AUD$155,072 p.a., plus 17% superannuation.
Level of appointment is subject to qualifications and experience.

This role will be based in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Bio21 Molecular Science and Biotechnology Institute within the School of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at The University of Melbourne. The appointee will play a leadership role in the new ACRF-funded Translational Proteomics initiative and work closely with the Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics platform in the Bio21 Institute and the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC), a partnership of ten organisations in the state of Victoria committed to cancer control.

The appointee to this role will be a world-class researcher with an outstanding track record of research achievement for their career stage and proven experience in collaborative, cross-disciplinary research and proteomics. 

The successful applicant will contribute to the translational research capability in pre-clinical and clinical assays of proteins to improve interpretation of patient genomic information and inform treatment decision-making for targeted cancer therapeutics. In addition, the successful candidate will play a significant role in developing assays for better selection of patients and improved monitoring of response to targeted therapies as part of the VCCC program to enhance capabilities that support high-quality cancer clinical trials. The successful applicant may also continue to develop their existing research program in parallel or in combination with the ACRF-funded translational proteomics initiative.

The successful applicant will work collaboratively with clinicians, molecular pathologists and genomic scientists. He or she will provide academic leadership for growing the sub-discipline of translational proteomics and training the next generation of translational scientists and this will involve direct research training of students and early career researchers and contributing to undergraduate and graduate teaching programs.
