The Opportunity

Are you a talented public health researcher with experience in project implementation? Would you like to contribute to meaningful work within a values driven not-for-profit organisation? Then this may be the role for you!

We are now searching for a Research Officer to join our Young People’s Health Team. You will be responsible for project management, implementation, and evaluation of two key projects within a multidisciplinary team of experienced public health researchers, computer scientists, human-centered design researchers, sex educators, and young people.

You will:

• Work with stakeholders and participants to conduct the two key projects.
• Contribute to research tasks such as literature review, protocol development, ethics applications, evaluation, data analysis, funding applications.
• Work collaboratively as part of a small team of public health researchers working to improve young people’s health.
• Mentor students and junior staff.
• Produce research papers, reports, and other academic outputs.

You will be supported to develop your skills, build your research expertise, contribute to other emerging projects, write academic papers, and present at conferences! We are a flexible workplace, and you will be able to determine your own working hours and have the option of ongoing partial working from home (post COVID-19 restrictions).

We are open to a full time or part time appointment (0.6 – 1.0 FTE). This position is initially for 18 months with the possibility of extension.

Let’s talk about you

The following qualifications and experience are essential:

• PhD in a related discipline, e.g., public health or social science
• Experience conducting research projects, including project implementation, stakeholder engagement, data collection and analysis
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage professionally with stakeholders and in a friendly, non-judgemental way with a diverse group of participants

The following would also be preferable:

• A demonstrated academic track record (e.g. publications)
• Knowledge or experience in public health research, health promotion, human-centred design, computer science, sexual health and education, and/or adolescent health
