 Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) was Australia’s first dedicated paediatric research facility and is now one of the nation’s most highly regarded independent medical research centres. Our research focuses on the areas of cancer, embryonic development, neuroscience and gene therapy. CMRI’s research programs are supported by state of the art instrumentation and facility support in microscopy, proteomics and genome editing. We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic PhD graduate to join the laboratory of Associate Professor, Tracy Bryan. The overall goal of the lab is to elucidate the biochemical and cellular mechanisms of action of the ribonucleoprotein telomerase, and how this relates to cancer cell immortality or diseases of insufficient telomere maintenance. In particular, we are interested in mechanistic analyses of our recent exciting findings of links between the DNA damage response, DNA replication stress, and telomerase recruitment to chromosome ends. Applicants with a background in the DNA damage or DNA replication fields are therefore encouraged to apply.

Candidates should have a PhD in cell and molecular biology, and a deep interest in telomere maintenance and/or genome stability. The successful candidate will have first author publication(s) in high profile international scientific journals, and experience at presenting their research at local or international conferences. They will have very strong spoken and written English capability, excellent presentation skills, team spirit, independence, creativity and self-motivation.

This Postdoctoral Fellowship is offered for one year in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal. You will be provided with a competitive remuneration package in accordance with qualifications and experience.
