We are seeking a qualified Bioinformatician / Data Scientist to join the Functional Genomics program with a focus on proteomics. This role will involve supporting researchers from the CMRI and collaborating institutions in the analysis of proteomics data of rare genetic diseases, cancers and disease modelling. The successful applicant will have opportunities to explore and interrogate a diverse range of data, including transcriptomics and proteomics data. Additionally, the successful applicant will work alongside highly experienced research data scientists/bioinformaticians.
The candidate will have relevant research experience in bioinformatics with application to computational and functional biology. The candidate is expected to have a good track record in performing high impact research in the relevant field. The following specific skills are highly desirable:
- Demonstrated experience in mass spectrometry-based proteomics data analysis
- Strong knowledge of the linux/unix computing environment
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages, preferably R, Python, Perl, Java and Matlab
- Expertise in standard bioinformatics tools.
- Good understanding of computational and systems biology.
- Good communications skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work to meet timelines
