A little history about Jewish Care
Jewish Care Victoria, a not-for-profit organisation, is the largest provider of aged and community services for the Jewish Community in Victoria. Services include Aged Residential Care, Assessment Referral and Individual Support Services, Community Aged Care, Disability, Mental Health, Youth and Family Services and Holocaust Survivors Programs.

The opportunity
The Safety Health & Wellbeing (SHW) Manager provides advice to managers and employees to support a healthy, safe and inclusive environment. This role will lead a process of continuous improvement that aims to  improve the safety, health and wellbeing, and emergency management.

Other activities included in this position include, but are not limited to; 

  • provides a best practice and strategic approach to deliver effective SHW management and manage risk;
  • Coach, educate and advise managers and their employees across all aspects of safety, health and wellbeing in partnership with other members of the P&C Team.
  • Influence, consult and communicate clearly with managers and staff as well providers and suppliers.
  • Maintain key relationships including WorkSafe, Workers Compensation Insurer, Employee Assistance Program Provider, Manual Handling etc. Training Providers

Develop and continuously review JCV’s policies, procedures to ensure reflects legislative and regulatory changes, in an accessible format to ensure understanding and compliance 

The Ideal candidate will possess: 

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, with a focus toward employee wellbeing, preferred Residential Aged Care and Community Care, NFP or support services industry background.
  • Excellent understanding of best practice SHW management practices and principles
  • Strong advisory, training, stakeholder management and coaching skills
  • Experience in management of WorkCover claims and associated activities 
  • Demonstrated experience in consulting, advising and coaching managers to identify solutions to build capability with the ability to influence and drive change at all levels
  • Possess an excellent communication skills, with the ability to prioritise your work load, adapt to change quickly and will have an expert eye for detail.
