Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) was Australia’s first dedicated paediatric research facility and is now one of the world’s most highly regarded independent medical research centres. About the Role

The Clinical Research Fellow will be a key member of ProCan®, the ACRF International Centre for the Proteome of Human Cancer, located in Children’s Medical Research Institute, Westmead, Sydney. ProCan has a multi-disciplinary team of proteomicists, histopathologists, data scientists, software engineers, medical oncologists and project managers. We are currently undertaking cancer proteomics studies on an essentially unique, high-throughput platform across most cancer types, adult and paediatric, with sample cohorts supplied by many collaborating cancer research groups in Australia and elsewhere.

The research fellow will have a strong clinical background in adult or paediatric oncology, with relevant research experience in cancer clinical trials or translational/biomarker research. A higher degree or progress towards a higher degree is desirable but not mandatory. The fellow will be involved in establishing and maintaining collaborations with national and international cancer research teams to use proteomic technology to answer high-value clinical questions. The fellow will also work closely with proteomicists and data scientists in the ProCan team and be supported to write manuscripts and attend and present at local, national and international conferences. There are no clinical care or on-call commitments as part of this role and hours are flexible with opportunities to work from home. The position is suitable for RACP non-core accreditation, and contracts of minimum 1 year are negotiable. Part-time positions can be negotiated.
