The Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute is dedicated to finding cures for cardiovascular disease and is one of the most respected heart research facilities in the world.
In 2016, the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute established the Victor Chang Innovation Centre comprised of seven cutting-edge facilities, with a focus on Stem Cells and Regeneration, Cardiogenomics and Gene Editing, Cardiac Imaging, Arrhythmias, Transplantation and Devices, and Metabolomics.
The new centre will attract world-class researchers and drive transformative research. It will allow scientists to access cutting-edge technologies and will foster collaborations with clinical researchers and technological experts, all with a shared vision – to reduce the incidence, severity and impact of heart disease.
As manager of the Micro Imaging Research Facility, you will work on a range of projects with researchers from across the spectrum of the NSW cardiovascular community. You will have primary responsibility for the operation of a lightsheet microscope, OPT and confocal microscopes, microCT, and Opera Phenix plate-based imager, ensuring optimal experimental design, data acquisition and data processing.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Operation of equipment including lightsheet microscope, OPT and confocal microscopes, microCT, Opera Phenix
Provision of analytical expertise and data management
Methods development and data analysis including automated image analysis
Experimental design tailored to specific biological questions
Training of staff and/or students in data acquisition and analysis
Facility administration including equipment maintenance, devising SOPs, promoting the facility, etc.
Managing use, costings and charging
You will have a strong back ground in microscopy and imaging or other relevant disciplines, and an ability to use this expertise to develop new applications of our suite of cutting-edge technology to extend the capabilities of the Micro Imaging Research Facility.
We would like to meet you if you have:
Education at BSc or higher in molecular-cell biology and embryology, or equivalent disciplines
Demonstrated experience in biological imaging
Demonstrated experience in fluorescence microscopy
Demonstrated experience in image analysis and method development
