Reporting to the Coordinator of Research, Ethics & Compliance, you will oversee the compliance and provide high level support for the UNSW Animal Care and Ethics Committees, including providing specialist advice on animal research ethics matters, and secretariat support. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to broader initiatives within the Division of Research & Enterprise, to enhance the quality of animal research and animal care.

The Organisation

The Research Ethics & Compliance Support (RECS) team coordinates committees and processes for research involving humans, animals, gene technology and radiation safety and provides advice on legislative and other requirements in these areas. RECS also coordinates other research compliance areas such as export controls, clinical trials, drone use, scheduled substances and quarantine.

Who you are

You are degree qualified and can demonstrate your experience in the development of research projects including ethical considerations in the conduct of the research, ideally animal research and a demonstrated ability to provide high level secretariat support. Knowledge of Codes and legislation related to animal research ethics and skills, high-level critical thinking to interpret legislation, and ability to engage with a broad range of stakeholders is also required.
