Director of Nursing (DON)

The role:

The Director of Nursing ois responsible for providing effective, contemporary leadership, oversight and direction accross clinical services and the team of nursing and support staff. The Director of Nursing is an integral member of the Hospital Executive Management team and supports the Executive Officer in the strategic and operational governance of the Hospital.

Your responsibilities:

  • Support the executive team
  • Strategic planning - ensure robust plans are in place to achieve hospital and organisational objectives
  • Business improvement and change leadership
  • Human resource / people management - ensuring an engaged and performing team
  • Clnical leadership - accross the hospital and other health services in the district
  • Operational management - ensure smooth day to day operations of the hopistal and health services
  • Risk management and mitigation
  • Represent the hospital on committees and working groups
  • Reporting and monitoring performance
  • Budget management - ensuring a cost effective service

Key requirements:

  • Unrestricted AHPRA registration
  • Extensive clinical management experience in a comparable role
  • Kowledge of current practices and trends in organisational development, human resource management, and
  • financial management is essential.
  • Tertiary qualifications in health management, business or related disciplines desired.
  • Have the ability to undertake comprehensive clinical investigations.
  • Have experience in the management of change and growth.
  • Have proven financial acumen.
  • Knowledge and experience of Australian Council on Healthcare national standards.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills to foster a positive work culture.
