Scientific Services supports QIMR Berghofer researchers by providing core services; including flow cytometry, microscopy, histotechnology, GMP production, animal facilities, analytical facilities, sample processing, building services, scientific equipment, cryogenics and stores.

You will lead a small team to provide a high quality and responsive Histotechnology Service that supports researchers across QIMR Berghofer.  You will be responsible for nurturing a high performance culture and managing staff.  You will effectively manage operations within the Histotechnology Service, including delivery of routine histology as well as special investigations to support innovative research.  You will lead engagement with researchers across the Institute to ensure the Histotechnology Service meets current and emerging research needs.

To be successful in this role, you will have a passion for developing high performing teams, which is achieved through your effective supervisory and leadership skills. You will have a degree in a life science and experience in providing histology services in a medical research or clinical environment or experience as a medical researcher.  You will have a track record of building relationships with internal customers and managing stakeholder relations.  Finally, your outstanding organisational skills will demonstrate your ability to manage competing priorities with specified timeframes. Although not essential, experience in communication, team development or business management would be desirable.

Salary range is $89,805 - $97,901 per annum plus super and attractive salary packaging. This is a permanent full-time appointment.
