Location: The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, including both the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.

An exciting opportunity is available for a results-driven and highly motivated Post-Doctoral Clinical Research Fellow to join Australia’s largest psychology research program and clinical service dedicated to childhood heart disease.

In this unique role, you will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of several research studies investigating psychological, neurobiological, developmental and/or social aspects of childhood heart disease and genomics. The position will involve a range of research tasks related to these studies, as well as the implementation of specific assessment protocols, coordination of data collection and interpretation, manuscript preparation, supervision of research assistants and students, and general office management and research administration.

The position will be co-located at the School of Women’s and Children’s Health UNSW in Randwick, and the Heart Centre for Children at Westmead, and will also require travel to a number of other sites.

The successful candidate will possess a postgraduate research degree (or equivalent research experience) in Psychology, Medicine, Neuroscience, Health Services, Nursing, or other Behavioural or Social Sciences, and a demonstrated understanding of research methodologies. A familiarity with research databases and statistical analysis, and past experience contributing to research projects will be paramount. Interviewing and qualitative data coding skills will be highly advantageous, as will a background working with children and families affected by critical or chronic illness. You will also need to be highly analytical, meticulous and organised, with excellent writing, time management and project management skills.

This role presents a chance to be part of a dynamic and highly successful research program. You will be closely mentored by a team of supportive academics and clinicians, and will have exposure to a variety of interesting and multi-disciplinary projects.  

This is a full-time, fixed term position for 12 months, with the possibility of contract extension subject to performance and funding outcomes. Part-time appointments may be considered and if this is preferred, it must be stated clearly in your application.
