Where you will be working

Griffith Base Hospital is a 117 bed C1 peer grouped  hospital providing a range of acute specialist services (both resident & visiting) including emergency medicine, general medicine,  surgery, paediatric medicine, oncology, obstetrics, intensive care, respiratory medicine, renal dialysis and rheumatology.  Each year there are approximately 19,500 emergency presentations, 2,500 operations and 540 births. Additional services at Griffith Base Hospital include physiotherapy, dietetics, pharmacy, occupational therapy and Aboriginal health. There are also a range of diagnostic services including Pathology, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, General X-Ray and Mammography.

What you will be doing

This clinical position involves the provision of assessments, evidence based treatment and case management services to adults referred to the service with psychological disorders and psychiatric illnesses. It is based within multidisciplinary community mental health team.      

This position is based within a multidisciplinary community mental health team and accepts responsibility and accountability for the provision of quality and safe care for people with a mental illness, disorder or dysfunction, people with emotional difficulties and experiencing life transition, distress and/or crisis within best practice guidelines and in accordance with professional standards, medico legal and statutory requirements.    

The position also involves the provision of mental health crisis intervention services to individuals of all ages.  

 
Selection Criteria
  • Qualification as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist or other relevant tertiary qualification within the NSW Health Professionals Award. Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency for Registered Nurses, Psychologists. Eligibility for membership of the peak body professional association for Social Workers or Occupational Therapists
  • Demonstrated recent experience working with consumers who are diagnosed with psychological/psychiatric illness and evidence based, therapeutic approaches.
  • Knowledge and experience in mental health practice that demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to contemporary mental health service delivery principles, including case management, shared care models of practice and consumer, family/carer focused interventions
