The Cancer Epidemiology & Intelligence Division (CEID) develops and maintains high quality resources for epidemiological research and evaluation. The Australian Breakthrough Study (ABC) Study is a longitudinal study, working with 50,000 participants across Australia looking at the areas of diet, health, lifestyle, genetics and the risk of cancer and other chronic diseases.

About your opportunity

We are currently seeking a Project Officer to join the ABC Study team. Reporting to the Project Manager, your role is to:

  • Assist in the development, testing and maintenance of follow-up systems and protocols.
  • Maintain and update the contact management database.
  • Support participants to complete the requirements of study participation according to the established schedule.
  • Perform clerical review related to linkages and assist with tracing study participants, as required.

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • A Diploma or demonstrated experience in a field relevant to the current research.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated experience in being able to communicate with patients or study participants.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills including time management, prioritisation and strong attention to detail.
  • Proven experience with database maintenance including accurate and high-quality data entry.
  • Clear understanding and appreciation of privacy and confidentiality requirements of undertaking health research.
  • Flexible working hours, including some evening work, may be required.

What we can offer you

This full-time (with flexibility for part-time 0.8FTE) fixed term position for 12 months provides a salary within range $52,086 to $57,436 plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefits of not-for-profit salary packaging and a meal entertainment card. We also offer a flexible and friendly work environment, social and wellbeing activities and a location close to public transport.
