Since our establishment in 1936, Cancer Council Victoria has developed an international reputation for our innovative work in cancer research, prevention and support. As an independent, not-for-profit organisation, we play a leading role in reducing the impact of all cancers on all people. Within the Behavioural Science Division, the Centre for Behavioural Research in Cancer (CBRC) conducts high quality applied behavioural research and evaluation to inform and influence cancer prevention policies, programs and services. Under the leadership of Professor Melanie Wakefield AO, the Centre has an international reputation as a key provider of cancer prevention evidence, with active programs of research and evaluation underway in tobacco control, skin cancer prevention, obesity prevention, alcohol harm reduction and cancer screening.

Your opportunity

We are seeking an experienced research and evaluation manager to join the CBRC team. Reporting to the Centre’s Director and a Senior Research Fellow, you will collaborate closely with our Prevention Division in order to:

  • Lead and manage the evaluation framework for the SunSmart program
  • Provide research and evaluation advice to SunSmart and Achievement Program managers and contribute to strategic planning
  • Conceive, design and implement research and evaluation projects, including training field staff and conducting pilot studies
  • Commission data collection and analyse, interpret, write up and present results

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Master’s degree in behavioural science, public health or related discipline and at least 5 years’ experience in an evaluation, research or population monitoring related environment.
  • Experience in supervising staff, managing and monitoring budgets.
  • Ability to conceive and formulate high quality evaluation and research studies, design survey instruments and conduct quantitative evaluation research.
  • Experience in conduct and interpretation of complex statistical analyses using SPSS or similar
  • Ability to draw conclusions from data to inform ongoing program development.

What we can offer you

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) fixed term position until June 2023 providing a salary within the range of $95,000 to $110,000 plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefits of not-for-profit salary packaging and a meal entertainment card.
