The Victorian Cancer Biobank (VCB) is a not-for-profit consortium, funded by the Victorian Government through the Victorian Cancer Agency. The current consortium members include Cancer Council Victoria as the lead agency, Austin Health, Eastern Health, Melbourne Health, Monash Health and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. The purpose is to provide high quality, ethically obtained biospecimens and biospecimen related services to support research that will lead to improvements in cancer diagnosis and treatment. The central operations of VCB is part of Victorian Cancer Registry Division within Cancer Council Victoria.

About your opportunity

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to join the Victorian Cancer Biobank. Reporting to the General Manager, Victorian Cancer Biobank your role is to:

  • Lead the business growth of Victorian Cancer Biobank for provision of biospecimens and related services to facilitate medical research and innovation
  • Identify new business opportunities and establish new projects
  • Oversee the delivery of projects in provision of high quality biospecimens
  • Maintain relationships with clients

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • A tertiary qualification in health or sciences or substantial experience of business development in medical research or biotechnology sector
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the ethical and logistical issues related to the use of human tissues in research
  • High level relationship management and negotiation skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • A flexible and supportive workplace, with excellent work-life balance and opportunities for career progression and development
