One in five Australians are affected by a brain disorder each year. The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health has more than 600 staff and students who are passionately committed to researching the way the brain works. We are internationally renowned for our discoveries and research on the central nervous system and associated brain disorders. Key areas of interest include addiction, Alzheimer’s disease, cardiovascular disease, depression, epilepsy, Huntington’s disease, motor neuron disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, stroke and traumatic and spinal cord injury.

An excellent opportunity is available for a highly motivated individual to join an outstanding team of scientists and staff, and work within the Stroke Division at our Heidelberg facility based at Austin Health. The role will primarily be responsible for leading and developing research programs to enhance recovery after stroke and contribute to revolutionising the science of this field.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in biological sciences or clinical sciences or similar field with proven post-doctoral work experience in a research environment. The ability to actively contribute to ‘big vision’ discussions, lead the preparation and submission of relevant scientific manuscripts and grants, and supervise staff and/or student is a requirement of this role. The candidate will be highly motivated and have the ability to communicate effectively. An indicative salary in the range of $90,755 - $107,776 commensurate with experience plus 14%/17% superannuation and generous salary packaging options is on offer.
