Your new role

The School of Psychological Sciences at the University of Tasmania has embarked on exciting changes to our program, aimed at making training for general and clinical psychologists accessible across the state. You will join this journey as Director of the University Psychology Clinic, which is integral to growing the Tasmanian mental health work force. You will be responsible for overseeing the supervision and placement operations of the University Psychology Clinic and actively participate in student supervision. Collaborating with the Director of Postgraduate programs will enable you to build strong external partnerships to foster external training opportunities for our students. In this teaching focused position, you will actively contribute to the development and implementation of the new postgraduate curriculum which aligns with both the 2019 Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) standards and is key to the strategy of the School and the University of Tasmania.

What you’ll need to succeed

A current Psychology Board of Australia Approved Supervisor Status, with approval to supervise provisional psychologists during an accredited higher degree program is essential in this exciting role. Demonstrated excellence in supervision/teaching in a range of clinical topics at postgraduate level, including, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), professional ethics, psychological assessment, and psychopathology will enable you to achieve desired objectives of the role. You will bring to the role significant experience in University-level teaching and learning, with a focus on Postgraduate Psychology, and ability to develop scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching and learning within a placement context, including blended and online educational approaches.
