The Royal Darwin Hospital is the iconic 360 bed teaching hospital based in the Top End of the Northern Territory, providing a wide range of services across all specialist areas.
The Director Nursing and Midwifery provides professional clinical leadership to the Nursing and Midwifery workforce at the Royal Darwin Hospital. Working in collaboration with the Top End Nursing Executive to operationalise best practice and evidence based standards, and deliver organisational strategic objectives.
The context of low population density and a high population of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders provide a unique healthcare environment along with tropical health and urban care. It requires Nursing and Midwifery leadership that is passionate and capable of building and inspiring: models of care that are accessible; cultural responsiveness; bringing research to practice to develop evidence of outcomes; resilience; education in the context of professional diversity; greater collaboration and integration; robust systems of governance.
To be the ideal candidate you will possess: Nursing and Midwifery leadership and operational management expertise at a senior level; experience in the management and improvement of patient flow and patient access to services; demonstrated ability in change management skills; demonstrated experience in budget preparation and management; knowledge of clinical practice, care delivery and continuous improvement of nursing practice; a commitment to closing the gap of disadvantage in Aboriginal Health.
Registered Nurse with current AHPRA issued practicing certificate and relevant Master level qualifications
