Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria.
This position is located at the Community Forensic Mental Health Service (CFMHS) in Clifton Hill, 15 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD. CFMHS is a specialist state-wide agency that works with individuals who have a serious mental health illness and have offended, or are at risk of offending.

 

About the role:

The Client Liaison Officer will assist in the coordination of clinical services to the Non-Custodial Supervision Order (NCSO) clients under the provisions of the Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act.  They will help ensure that psychiatric and forensic issues are adequately addressed and a high standard of clinical care is maintained through primary and secondary consultation and advice to Area Mental Health Services (AMHS) and other treating services. In addition, assist in providing an educative, advisory and monitoring role in relation to area mental health services, maintain a database and submit reports in relation to NCSO clients and work within the boundaries set by the profession, service and Forensicare Council.

 

Duties:

  • Hold a clinical case load.
  • Assist in initial and ongoing risk assessments clients. Update risk assessments as required.
  • Liaise with Area Mental Health Services to receive updates on clients and provide assistance in development risk management plans in relation to NCSO clients.  

 

Qualification, skills and experience:

  • Hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent with 3-5 years’ mental health experience post registration.
  • Possess current registration with AHPRA
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Demonstrates highly developed skills when undertaking bio-psychosocial assessments and ongoing assessments of risk.
  • Liaise with Area Mental Health Services to ensure appropriate management of NCSO clients is occurring.
  • Provide secondary consultation and education to Area Mental Health Services and Other Providers.
